The Fokker S-14 Machtrainer was the first Dutch jet.
It was also the first designed jet trainer in the world. All jet trainers from that time period were in fact two-seat versions of existing jets.
Fokker hoped to receive a lot of orders from the NATO countries and the rest of the world. Sadly, the reality was different. The NATO countries where indecisive about a purchase. The Dutch airforce decision to use the T-33 for advanced flight training and a lack of confidence from the Board of directors of Fokker, resulted in a slim chance for the Machtrainer. The order of 20 planes, placed by the Dutch airforce, could be seen as a symbolic gesture.
This book tells the full story of the Fokker S-14 Machtrainer. From the first designs untill now with a lot of never before published data and illustrations.
